Grano earns gold medal in EcoVadis sustainability assessment

Grano earns gold medal in EcoVadis sustainability assessment

Grano underwent its third EcoVadis sustainability assessment this year. The previous assessments carried out in 2021 and 2023 earned Grano a silver medal, but this time the company brought home the gold! This places Grano in the top 5% of all assessed companies.

What is EcoVadis?

EcoVadis is an independent and internationally renowned provider of business sustainability ratings. It assesses and rates companies' environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance, and its criteria are based on the world's leading ethical standards, such as GRI, UNGC and ISO 26000. The organisation’s operations are overseen by an international scientific committee. EcoVadis assessments have been carried out on approximately 130,000 companies in 220 industries and over 180 countries.

Data-driven sustainability work earned Grano 20 additional points this year

Grano showed significant improvement in the theme of Labour & Human Rights, improving its score by a whopping 20 points. In the other three sustainability themes, the company’s scores remained largely the same as the previous year. In recent years, Grano has been putting a great deal of effort into improving employee induction, competence development and occupational safety and health, among other things. In addition to this, we have started collecting more extensive data on different areas and clarified our indicators for monitoring the development of business sustainability. These changes are clearly reflected in the latest assessment.

“We now have more high-quality data with which we can more closely monitor our progress,” Grano's Quality and Sustainability Director Tytti Liven says and adds:

“We are very pleased to have earned a gold medal and will continue to comprehensively develop our business sustainability both as part of our daily operations and at the strategic level.”

The utilisation of data is also strongly reflected in Grano’s environmental sustainability, which EcoVadis assessed to be at an excellent level with a score of 80/100. The environmental impacts of our operations are measured on a continuous basis, and we are constantly seeking new ways of improving our operations for the good of the environment. Our goal is to be the most environmentally sustainable operator in our industry.
