HSL partnered with Feelback and Grano to make its Travel Survey a success
The Travel Survey is a survey conducted by Helsinki region municipalities and Helsinki Regional Transport Authority (HSL) to study the travel habits of Helsinki region residents. The survey was last carried out in 2023, with the practical implementation handled by Feelback Oy and the associated printing and mailing handled by Grano. Letters about the survey were mailed to a total of more than 40,000 recipients.
Part of Go On Yhtiöt and founded in 2001, Feelback Oy is a modern research agency that provides its customers with various data-driven management services. Sales Director Juha Järvi has been with the company since 2008.
“We offer a so-called three-pronged approach to data-driven management, consisting of management experience, personnel experience and customer experience. In addition to this, we also offer broader data collection services. We have our own 70-person telephone interview centre in Lappeenranta. In addition to telephone interviews, we carry out population-based quantitative research. Nowadays this type of quantitative research is very often carried out using a hybrid model, combining calls, emails and letters, for example,” Juha summarises.
Feelback have been partnering with Grano on printing and mailing services almost throughout the entire history of the company. From the very beginning, Feelback has found Grano to be the natural choice of cooperation partner.
“They have a good brand and operate nationwide and sustainably. We are also very particular about environmental matters. We believe that Grano is able to meet our objectives well, and they are also very comprehensive when it comes to corporate social responsibility,” Juha stresses.
A large-scale project successfully completed
HSL's Travel Survey involved sending out three different versions of a letter in both Finnish and Swedish. In addition to the actual letters, the project included a printed envelope and a giveaway HSL reflector. The mailing quantity was approximately 42,000, and the letters were sent out in two batches of ten mailings each.
“This was a very large-scale project. Grano handled it from start to finish – meaning that once all the content was ready, we simply sent it to Grano, who handled all the printing materials and mailings,” Juha states.
“Experience has shown us that Grano is a reliable partner. We can trust that everything just works. This is important because we are dealing with such massive quantities. If there was a problem with the mailing, for example, we would also run into major problems in carrying out the survey itself,” Juha says.
Grano is familiar with the research sector
HSL's Travel Survey was a success overall. Due to its complexity, the project required the different parties to possess strong expertise in the research sector. Fortunately, Grano has accumulated plenty of it, having partnered with Feelback for several years.
“It is great to have partners who know and are familiar with the research sector and the contemporary demands of the sector. This spares us from having to teach these things. In that sense, it is great to have a deep partnership that serves and rewards both parties. Our contact persons at Grano have remained the same for a long time, so they are able to quickly grasp what we are talking about and what we need,” Juha states.
Outsourcing printing and mailing services to Grano has freed up Feelback's own resources for use in other activities that facilitate research. Outsourcing has also contributed to making otherwise quite demanding projects less taxing.
“Grano offers a wide range of services. They are also flexible. In more extensive surveys in particular, there are a lot of moving parts, and various refinements can be made right up to the finish line. Even when we have to change something on the fly, they are able to respond and react accordingly. We are very pleased with Grano, and currently have no reason to even start thinking about switching service providers,” Juha summarises.
