Vehicle graphics and vehicle branding
Your company's cars are mobile advertising spaces that stick in people’s minds and effectively support other advertising. Using a car as an advertising surface is a cost-effective way to reach customers and attract attention. Grano Key Account Manager Lasse Järvinen, who specialises in vehicle graphics, explains why decals and vehicle branding are worth it.
Why should a company purchase vehicle graphics?
A car driving around in the Helsinki region can be seen by as many as 20,000 pairs of eyes in a day. The number of people who see your vehicle in a single day can be deduced and calculated based on traffic flows. This is only one of many reasons why vehicle graphics consistent with your brand are worth it.
– A car is like a mobile billboard, says Grano Key Account Manager Lasse Järvinen, who specialises in vehicle graphics.
– It is a stylish way to advertise and present your brand.
– For example, delivery vehicles drive the same routes all the time. Let’s say that your vehicle is seen by 400,000 people a month: that makes approximately five million views in a year. A moving advertisement is estimated to have 20% better reach than a non-moving advertisement, he explains.
– This means that if a vehicle is outfitted with graphics for three years, it will be seen a total of 15 million times. At that point, you can ask yourself whether the vehicle should be driving around with or without graphics, Lasse says.
It is also worth noting that vehicle graphics or the surfaces on cars are not subject to rent, since the vehicle is owned or managed by the customer. Of course every vehicle has a procurement cost, but after that, purchasing graphics is not costly considering the number of contacts that can be achieved. Grano designs and handles vehicle graphics on a turnkey basis.
– We will consider what kind of advertisements the vehicle has space for, what should be displayed on each surface and how elements like slogans and logos should be positioned, Lasse says, detailing the vehicle graphics process.
– Whether your vehicle fleet consists of trucks or passenger cars, we will find a suitable solution for you, he states.
Wrapped and ready to go
Grano has a ready-made template that customers can use to map their own vehicle fleets. Once all the necessary information has been collected and Grano has been notified of where the vehicles are located, the design process can begin.
Grano will take care of the design and implementation for you, but if your company is already working with a design company or a graphic designer, or you want to design the advertisements yourself, Grano’s key account manager can also help you coordinate the process. Larger projects are carried out with a project manager, who will make sure that the installation of the graphics proceeds smoothly and keep you informed of their progress at each location.
– The mapping is the most important step, Lasse states, and adds:
– We will prepare illustrations for each vehicle model before commencing production. We also provide a detailed quote based on our plans so the customer knows exactly how much the vehicle graphics will cost.
Eco-friendly graphics
Vehicle graphics can be produced in a completely carbon neutral manner.
– Recently we provided one company with vehicle graphics made of PVC-free film. They can be recycled because they contain no toxic materials, Lasse explains and adds
– The graphics applied to the side of the bus also stated that the graphics were made of environmentally friendly materials.
This is a good example of how companies can also communicate to their customers that their vehicle graphics are based on environmentally friendly materials. If the customer’s vehicle fleet includes electric or hybrid cars, this can be communicated through graphics as well:
– This is a low-emission vehicle.
Installation services close to you
Cars are needed every day, so driving one far away to another city and leaving it there for several weeks for the installation of vehicle graphics is simply out of the question. Fortunately, Grano has several installation facilities around Finland, ensuring that the installation of vehicle graphics can be carried out quickly and locally. We provide installation services in the Helsinki region, Tampere, Jyväskylä, Kuopio, Lahti, Turku and Oulu, among other places.
The vehicle wrapping process typically takes 2–3 weeks, depending on the size of the vehicle fleet and surfaces. The installation time depends on the area covered by the graphics, meaning that larger vehicles take longer to wrap.
Professional tip for effective vehicle graphics
A good advertisement speaks for your company, and a punchy slogan sticks in people's minds.
– Vehicle graphics serve as your business card, so the message should be clearly conveyed in one go. Keeping it simple is the best approach, Lasse instructs and states:
– Excessively long and complex statements do not work in vehicle graphics.
